Great story for the time of year…
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
- WEGMAN’S NIGHT was a great success. High School has a good handle on marketing its new courses. Middle school got a start on assessments for the new physical education curriculum. Elementary caught up on assessments. Please add three hours to your PD logs.
- High school: our marketing days in school will be January 11 & 12 all day in the spectator gym. Teachers, please use the course descriptions to develop 5-6 talking points for the courses you have been assigned for the marketing day. This will be the key to the success of these courses. The bad part is this needs to be ready to go JANUARY 3 when the kids get back so we have time to tweak.
- Course selection night is January 17 from 7 – 9:30 if any of you are free and want to meet parents and market these courses.
- I began using this planning sheet for my admin duties and teaching duties. The period listings help me know where I left off and if I need to look something up for a student. I had mine made into a tablet by eagle copy. If you like it and want to do the same, please go to File> Make a Copy and adjust it for your needs.
A LITTLE NOTE…
I wanted to take a minute and thank you for all the hard work that you put into taking our Health & PE programs into the next phase. I know its not always easy and can sometimes make you question if we are on the right track. Please know that we are and I look forward to working with you in 2017. As you head into your break, remember to take time to recharge, and spend some time with the people you love. I am thankful for and learn from each of you.
TECH TIP:
DEPARTMENT GOALS 2016-2017:
- To plan and teach at least one (1) student-centered lesson
- To have a social media presence professionally and participate in a twitter chat (Dept hashtag: #CVHPE).

Todd- Thanks for all your hard work and dedication to the PE department. We appreciate your efforts and always representing us well with the administration. I would like to thank the High school staff for sharing the marketing process with the middle school teachers. It helps to paint the picture of PE as a program when we are able to understand the changes that are happening at the HS. As we move forward with our MS Lessons we can prepare students for their needs in the future.

I echo Steve’s comment about leadership AND the quality of our H/PE folks. As schools and traditional “education” change for the sake of students (good!) and budgets (bad) it is much better to be a part of the solution instead of a barrier. Keep it up and know that you have at least one tall, bald admin in your corner. Happy Holidays!

Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and had a chance to spend some quality time with friends and family. I am excited for our department as we continue to find innovative ways to provide a quality curriculum that meets the diverse needs of our students. New year is always a good time to reflect and count our blessings.!

Teri, I thank you so much for your 33 years of service to our students and profession. Personally, I have learned so much from you from the first time I saw you doing our high school adapted PE to just this year as you took on a technology challenge as part of your IAP. The truly great ones don’t “take plays off.” You bring it everyday. I know you will miss the kids, and they will miss you. Although I am contemplating asking the board to vote down your retirement so, selfishly, we can keep you with us, I congratulate you on a great career. You have left it better than you found it, and we will do our part to keep that legacy going. Much love and respect!
