Pre-Back To School Blog

I hope you are enjoying the final few weeks of summer break. This time of year is always bittersweet. The break and ability to make my own schedule are nice, but I also look forward to getting back to working with students and all of you. I spent my summer hanging with my boys (Drew is gearing up to search for schools to play lacrosse at the next level). I got to a few music shows – Steely Dan and The Roots were the highlights so far. Of course, it would not be summer without some good reads. A few of my selections are below:

I’m sure you have heard from someone in the district about the return to school dates. Convocation is on the 25th and then we will be in buildings. August 26th is department time in the morning. Deana will run things with all the cultural arts covering the portrait of an eagle, then we will break into our department meeting. One snafu is that I will not be in school that day because I have a surgical procedure done on the 26th. I will do the heavy lifting and create the agenda, but I will reach out to a few of you to lead parts of the meeting. I sincerely apologize for having to miss it. A few previews for things this year: a new method of receiving budget items, curriculum discussions at every meeting in preparation for writing, and a few other things too. All the meeting dates have been sent out and the agenda and Teams link (switching away from zoom) are in the appointments.

More coming in the next few days. In the meantime, if you haven’t yet seen Ted Lasso on Apple TV, you are missing one of the greatest TV shows ever. I’ve watched it twice – made me laugh and cry, sometimes in the same scene. Lots of cool messaging for use with students too. Here is one that is always a good reminder when dealing with anyone:
